Dooks Golf Club are running a Fashion Show tomorrow night, Thursday the 21st of April @ 20.00.
All prices are being slashed by 25% on the night.

Mens Golf Update 20/04/11
Update Mens Golf
We had a very successful trip to Douglas last weekend with over 40 traveling. We warmed up on Friday afternoon with a round in Monkstown and the Sweep Prize was won by Aidan Foley with an excellent score of 41 points. Saturday’s competition in Fota Island was sponsored by Calor Gas. Fota was in excellent condition and we played in warm sunshine. The results of the competition were

2nd Stephen Foley [8] 39 points
3rd Jimmy O’Shea [10] 37 points
4th Jimmy O’Neill [ 20 ] 37 points
The golf played by all the prize winners was excellent with the exception of one hole as they all had one blank on their score cards.
This weekend will be very busy as a lot of our Members will be traveling from Dublin, Cork, Limerick and elsewhere and there is an Open Time Sheet in operation for the entire weekend. On Saturday and Sunday we have tan Invitational Open Four Ball competition sponsored by Cromane Seafood. Our sincerest thanks to Danny and John Arthur for their great support and generosity. Also on Saturday we have the first running of the Dooks Golf Society Challenge and the Tee is reserved from 10.30 to 2.20 for this event with 10 Societies taking part. The Presentation of Prizes for the Challenge will take place at the end of play. Finally on Monday we have a Team of 3 [any combination] Competition.
Moving on to the May Bank holiday weekend again an Open Time Sheet will be in operation for the entire weekend . On Saturday and on Sunday we have a Four Ball competition very kindly sponsored by Pat Golden. On the Monday we have another new Event and this is a Match between the Men and the Ladies The format for the Match is Four Ball Matchplay and it is hoped that at least 30 will take part on each team. If you wish to play please put your name on the Sheet which is on the Notice Board. The teams will be selected on a first come basis so if you wish to play please put your name up immediately. The tee is reserved from 12 to 2 for the Match.
A reminder to all wishing to be included in the Draw for the Club Singles and Four Ball matchplay Championships that you must have swiped in on or before the 2nd of May. If you do not swipe in then you will not be included in the Draw. We have had to insist on this as in the past people have played in the Competitions but have not paid the entry fee so you cooperation this year would be very much appreciated.

Over the weekend we completed the Finals of the Bianconi Spring League and Team G [ David Marmion ,Peter McLaughlin ,Fergus O’Connor ,Pat O’Neill ,Jim Guiry and Vincent Devlin ] beat Team F [ James Long [Captain],John Long , Kieran Foley , Seamus shaughnessy , Joseph Long and Michael Shaughnessy ] by 4 points to 2 . In 3rd place came Team I [ Denis Griffen ] and 4th was Team D [ Tim Collins]. The winner of the Plate was Team A [ Pat Riordon] Our very sincere thanks to Rick and Ray Sheehy of the Bianconi for the great sponsorship of this very popular Event in which we had 80 playing. We believe the changes in format made to the Competition this year added to its attraction and enjoyment and hopefully a greater number of Members will play next year when it will again be kindly sponsored by the Bianconi. Next Sunday we have the first of the Golfer of the Year competitions Which will be 18 hole Stableford and is very kindly sponsored by O’Sullivan’s Bakery . This will be the final competition before we go on tour to Douglas the following weekend to play Monkstown and Fota Island. There are still a few spaces available but these must be filled within the next couple of days and also all outstanding payments for the Hotel and Golf must be made this week. We have a good number traveling and it promises to be a great trip. Practice for the JB CARR panel shall commence shortly and all those intersted in being included please fill in your name and contact numbers on the Notice on the Board in the Club.In the alternative contact the Team Manager Pat Bowler on 0872888816. To qualify you must be at least 60 on or before the 31st December 2010. Each team comprises 5 pairs and the format is Scotch Foursomes. We have been drawn to play Ballybunion at home and the match is sceduled to take place in mid May [date to be confirmed]. We will be closing entries shortly for the Club Singles and Fourball Matchplay Championships so if you have not entered to date please do so within the next 7 days. At present we have 54 down for the Singles and 43 pairs for the Fourballs so there is room for more Practice for the Pierce Purcell Panel continues this thursday at 5 in the Club and additions to the Panel are welcome.
